What better way to celebrate turning 16 than with her very own photo shoot! Natalie and I had an awesome time wandering around the park and soaking up all the gorgeous Spring sunshine. I feel so lucky to get to capture this moment in her life and have to admit I’m also feeling a wee bit sentimental about being 16 myself! How much is she going to love these photos in 10, or 20 years?! With the end of the school year coming, this is a great time to think about celebrating how far your kids have come, whether they’re turning 2 or 16. This would be a great idea to do with high school grads, preparing to end a chapter and start a whole new one!

You are the reason I get up each day, and my motivation to make the best of it.

I work hard, and I care A LOT. There is nothing I’d rather do.

I love the funny things you say, and the way your eyes light up when you’re excited. (That includes you Dad)

I admire your colourful personalities and the way you are completely unique.

I love to see my family grow.

Nothing like a good laugh to start off your long weekend! I took my little man down into the ravine by my home a couple weeks ago. Found this cool tree in front of the creek! It’s pretty awesome, but not quite as awesome as the laughing fit that happened beneath it.

Not even 2 weeks old and already stealing hearts…

With the temperatures reaching the double digits today, all I can think is yippeeeeeeee! As much as I love the coziness of staying inside on a chilly day and picking out all my wintry accessories when I go out, I can’t get enough of those warmer months! I love how it doesn’t take 20 minutes to get out the door, I love not having to warm up the car, or tell anyone to keep their mitts on. I love running out the door in bare feet, the smell of barbeque and bringing my son to the park everyday. I love being able to take my camera with me everywhere I go and embrace the beautiful sunshine, taking photos from sunrise to sunset! Seriously, this makes me giddy! I might be getting a wee bit ahead of myself here, but I just can’t wait.

In my eyes, digital files are a premium product. Unlike purchasing a print, a digital file can be reproduced as many times as you would like. You could make 10 prints or 1000 prints- it’s totally up to you. With the digital file, you hold the power of making sure these images are in your hands forever. If your prints are ruined or lost, you still have those digital files are your disposal to make more.

Digital files are the result of a lot of love & hard work. My photo sessions are planned usually weeks in advance, emails and phone calls go back and forth, the session day arrives and I’m there giving 100%. Then I’m back home to handpick, carefully edit, and then process all the images. Only after this are the digital files sized and saved, and burned to a disk which is neatly printed and placed in a tin ready for my client!

Along with time involved, there are so many other costs for the professional photographer then simply the cost of the CD. The cost of supplies, office expenses, marketing, insurance, equipment- these just begin to skim the surface. All of these factors are taken into consideration.

I love to see my clients hanging a large mounted print on their living room wall, or displaying a beautifully designed album on their coffee table. I like to hand over professionally printed photos to be shared with friends and family. And when it comes to digital images, I love knowing that my clients will have the images that they love and admire- to hold on to, and keep safe in their very own home forever.

Babies have a way with making the world seem a better place. The sun seems to shine a bit brighter, our hearts seem to grow a little bigger, and moments of silence are that much more enjoyed. Keep making beautiful babies, my friends!
